This work began with a dexterous layering of my photographs, my drawings and virtual brush strokes to tell a story. From there, I re-entered the image physically, slowly adding layers by hand and shifting it from the digital into the tactile. In some areas, I've built up detail with pastels - especially in the Krishna and Shiva figures. I've also worked with graphite and charcoal powder, to control light and shade shaping my own chiaroscuro. In the highlights, I've played with watercolour based pencils to create a sense of dimension. My process is one of continual layering - moving back and forth between mediums - allowing the art to evolve gradually, with each layer adding to its depth.
