Artist Profile

Santosh Jain came to art-making in his 70s as a young Printmaker from College Of Art, Delhi. Her prints earned her prestigious awards and an inclusion in prominent artist associations such as Group 8, Shilpi Chakra, Mumbai Art Society, Lalit Kala Akademi and AIFACS. Followed by a 2 years fellowship to the Netherlands before she returned to New Delhi. Santosh has held solo exhibitions in Paris and Amsterdam and exhibited her graphics in New York, Australia, UK and India.

By using mediums as a language of expression, Jain’s practice over the years has included lithographs, collages, paintings and photographs. The past decade of her career has centered around Photography Mixed Media – a dexterous play of her original photographs of the everyday and her drawings, using art software as well as conventional Inks, Pastels, Pen and Charcoal. The layers help her engage with the viewers, in a unique way –by breaking barriers of time, space and mediums.

Her recurring subjects include ‘women’ and ‘the exploited’ that expand into empathy and layered personal narratives. She refers to her works as ‘her second language, which allows her to freely share long forgotten episodes of her life and her innermost feelings’. Her creative process is intense and each creation is a unique edition.

·       ‘Go East’ Micro Solo as part of Engendered Delhi’s ‘Desh Pradesh’ Art Exposition, curated by Myna Mukherjee,
at Bikaner House (2025)

·       Featured as one of the 100 unique voices of Women Artists in ‘Art And Woman’ book and ‘Contemporary Art Collectors Book, curated by Arts To Hearts Project (2023 & 2024)

·       ‘Telling Time Under the Soil’ - group exhibition featuring South Asian women artists, curated by Satyajit Dave,
at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2024)
